You love turning code into something tangible: a useful display, a working sensor or a case fresh from a 3D printer. At XALT, you connect electronics and software with AI applications. The hands-on part of this role is based in our Leipzig maker space.

**What we are working towards**

We want to help companies use AI to improve the work people rely on every day. We combine consulting, software development and our own products to make that happen. What excites us is seeing a technical idea become something people can count on.

- Leipzig, Remote
- Working student
- Students
- Immediately

## What you will work on

- **Build prototypes using Raspberry Pi, ESP32 or similar microcontrollers.**
- Develop physical dashboards that display data and AI-assisted insights.
- Connect sensors and devices to software or agents and test how they work together.
- Design and test cases and components using 3D printing.

## What you bring

- Current enrolment in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science, physics or a related field
- **Initial microcontroller and programming experience**, for example Python, C/C++ or MicroPython
- Enjoyment of hands-on building and careful testing; CAD or 3D printing experience is a plus
- Good German and English and an example of your own use of AI

## What we offer

- Unlimited tokens for Claude, OpenAI and the latest, most advanced AI tools
- Professional exchange within the team, across the Atlassian ecosystem as a Platinum Partner, and through the XALT AI Circle and IT Revolution

### Your working arrangements

Building and testing physical prototypes happens in our Leipzig maker space. Living nearby is therefore an advantage. Suitable software, design and documentation tasks can also be done remotely. If you live further away, tell us how regular hands-on work in Leipzig could fit your situation.

Your schedule can be arranged around your studies. We will agree the weekly hours and how the work fits your timetable with you.

### Our professional community

Exchanging ideas with others is part of what we enjoy about this work. For our XALT AI Circle in Munich in autumn 2026, we have invited Peter Steinberger of the OpenClaw Foundation to discuss personal agents. In October 2026, Philipp Göllner spoke at the Enterprise AI Summit in Charlotte about how our team built a Chief of Staff agent. We plan to represent XALT again at the summit in Portland in May 2027. For a closer look at our work, see [Philipp’s talk from Charlotte](https://videos.itrevolution.com/watch/1234138478/).

## Your AI example

We would like to understand how you approach problems and what you have learned along the way. Bring a small AI project of your own, for example from your studies or spare time, and show it to us live. Walk us through what you built, whether it works consistently, and what it taught you about its limits. One example is enough; you can recreate it with test data. Please do not share confidential information or protected code.

## Your application

Does this sound like work you would enjoy? We would love to hear from you. Send your CV to careers@xalt.de and tell us what you would like to work on. The conversation should also give you room to ask about the team, your responsibilities and what you need to do good work. We will discuss the interview arrangements and your AI demonstration with you personally. You can also send any questions beforehand to careers@xalt.de.
